Pioneer continues to expand its manufacturing with an emphasis on construction that utilizes environmentally friendly materials and design.
The need for organizations of all sizes to create sustainable, environmentally friendly policies is real and immediate. Global economic development is creating more and more competition for the resources we depend on to survive, and the only answer is to rethink the way that we work.
Within the plumbing and faucet industry, Pioneer Industries is committed to being a leader in "green", environmentally friendly business practices. This commitment encompasses a broad range of initiatives. Most significantly, we recently replaced our manufacturing operations with a state of the art 200,000 square foot facility that significantly minimizes our carbon footprint. Key "green" features of Pioneer's new manufacturing facility include:
- An advanced recycling system that recycles more than 90% of all water run in the facility
- Low-maintenance, low-water landscaping
- Low- or non-emission heavy machinery and equipment to reduce our carbon footprint
- "Green" production practices set on staggered shifts to reduce stress on power and overall usage of kilowatts from lighting to computers to machinery
- Natural air-flow systems to maximize ventilation to significantly reduce air conditioning usage
- Recycling of scrap materials from metals to plastics that are segregated, cleaned, and recycled
These initiatives have resulted in an over 30% reduction in water usage and over a 25% reduction in power consumption. However, our efforts have not stopped there. We grade our suppliers by their "green" efforts and only use those with the best score cards. We use a paperless ERP system and recycle at every opportunity, which has dramatically reduced the amount of paper and waste from all facilities.
Pioneer has partnered with design and engineering firms to develop best-in-practice, environmentally friendly products. By utilizing newer, "green" materials in the design of our products, we look forward to a future of radically new designs and concepts. As part of this initiative, we utilize PVD technology... the most environmentally-sound finishing process... on almost all of our faucet finishes. We have also contracted with water dynamic engineers to develop ways to run less water through our products without compromising the end-user experience.
The "need for green" is more pressing than ever, and we at Pioneer Industries are excited about the opportunity to become a leader in this important area. Businesses large and small can make a big difference. Through diverse efforts initiated at multiple levels in business, industry, and consumer life, we can all participate in ensuring a bright tomorrow for ourselves and for future generations.
